When to go
The west and south coasts are usually driest from December to March, while the east coast is best from about April to September. Festival periods and Australian school holidays fill flights early.
Booking tips
- Book December and April trips several months ahead. These are peak periods for family visits.
- Check checked-baggage allowances carefully if you’re taking gifts. They vary between airlines on this route.
- Bandaranaike International is north of Colombo city, so allow time for the road trip after landing.
